just wanted to let everyone know that i am indeed alive even though the blog seems a little, well....lifeless. we are working hard on a new blog and it should be up and running soon. check back in a week or so and hopefully the new blog will knock your socks off!!!

It's that time of year again! I can't believe it. Time flies by, especially now that I have a kid. None the less, we are doing prom fashion photos again this year. this is our 3rd year to do them and goodness they are a big hit! we will be set up at the studio from 3-8 pm on April 4th NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY! come early because we get very busy from about 5:30-6:45. $5 per person fee and you can get photos with your date, by yourself and with friends. packages start at $30.
sweet baby Jonas is here! never in my life have i seen a baby that looks so much like both parents like Jonas does. Tiffany and I had a good time traveling to good ol' Crockett County for this in home newborn session. We even used it as an excuse to stop in Jackson and eat some sushi!
Spring has sprung and so it is time to start thinking about your Easter photos. We have came up with a totally fabulous setting for this year's Easter sessions and yes....it's going to be OUTSIDE this year! We are going to have our lamb again this year but we are also going to be doing some really trendy individual urban photos. We will fill you in on all the details when you call to book your spot. We are hosting our very first Matilda Jane Trunk Show here at the studio on Thursday March 19th from 5-7 pm. When i talk about fashion inspired photography, matilda jane is the number one brand i think about. They have sizes 12M to adult. My lil Karlie Jane can wear the 12M size now and she is just 6 months.

i have never really done any kind of food photography before but today was a first...a caviar photo shoot. tiffany was the plate designer/caviar handler...she has so many different titles here at the studio i told her to add that to her resume! hahaha she still has the hibby jebbys from touching the caviar! those are sticky little fishys! it was fun to do a session that i haven't had a chance to experience before, and this was definitely an experience!
ok so you may have been wondering what i mean by fashion inspired photography. there is no better example than Miss Macie for this. She brought a ton of cute clothes for her session. we did some outdoor photos (horray for warm weather in feburary!) and then some inside. she was such a good sport to be only 1 year old (actually only 11 months right now but whose counting). :) and those blue eyes.......simply beautiful!!
i love this one cause the wind made a perfect mohawk for Macie. :) and the pucker face on the next one is priceless!
so i am always trying to think up new ways to be a custom custom custom photography studio. so i decided to start offering in home newborn sessions and i will haveta admit....they are my new favorite session. no one likes getting a newborn baby out (especially in this weather) to get photos done. it is ever so easy to have me come to your home and do the session. here are a couple of examples from the last in home session i did..... sweet baby Caleb!
so it's almost 11 pm. i never ever ever stay up this late. at the king house 9 pm the lights are out and we are getting in bed. this has been our ritual since we have gotten married and very rarely do i not go to bed at exactly 9 pm. tonite i thought i would stay up and work a bit before retiring to sleep. we have been unseasonably busy this january. it has been as busy (or more) than any other month and usually January is my "catch-up" month. i am not complaining though...i love being overly busy. i have discovered that i am not truly content unless i am so busy that i am a crazy stressed out person. i thrive off of stress. it's what makes me get out of bed in the morning...well that and a hungry baby. :)
i thought i would quickly post some images that i have done in the past couple of days. i have had a mix of everything here lately babies, families, pets, kids. and yes, seniors....still. speaking of seniors, we will be contacting our seniors for invitation orders in feb. so be thinking about that. we are also working on an awesome website just for you seniors that is going to ROCK! i thought that would be my project for January but since we have been doing so many sessions, i haven't gotten to work on it like i thought i would, but it is coming, i promise!

This is sweet lil charli. She just left the studio and i just had to post some of her images to the blog. her daddy makes custom duck calls and charli, along with her other 2 sisters, each have their own call. if you are in the market for a new duck call, email me and i will point you in the direction of charli's daddy. i don't know much about duck hunting but ask me anything about deer or turkey season. the only thing i know for sure is there is nothing sweeter than a 9 month old baby holding a duck call that her daddy made for her! :)

another thing----i am looking for a brand spankin' new baby that i can do an in home session. we are going to start offering in home sessions especially for the newborn sessions because everyone really loved the photos i took of Karlie Jane at my house when she was brand new. The baby needs to be no more than 7 days old. and whoever jumps on this first will receive their session fee free! plus they will end up with some pretty unique newborn images. so email or call the studio!

just wanted to start off by stating on the record that i am not moving. i have had like 4 people tell me they heard i was packing up and moving my business to another town but this is the furtherest from the truth. we have actually been re-doing the front of the studio and so we took down our window displays so we could replace them with some updated images. i guess people started to wonder when there wasn't anything in the windows. if you haven't been in the studio lately you should peek in. we have tons of new images and frames on the wall. who knows....YOU could be displayed on our walls and not even realize it yet! :) i will be posting some snapshots of the updates soon!
i just had to share a few shots I did this weekend of this lil cutie pie. what a doll! she did perfect, letting me and tiffany pose her however we wanted to.
Don't you just love the vintage feel the second image has? i am really digging the old vintage look right now so you will probably start noticing that some of my images will have that feel to them.

WE FINALLY GOT THE WEBSITE UPDATED!! Hooray!!! I finally posted new images, all our upcoming events for 2009, etc etc. So you haveta check it out!
we have a bunch of new ideas for the 2009 year. i always take off a couple of weeks at christmas and i end up working harder than if i was at the studio. my mind starts thinking up new things and i end up working from home, updating and such. this was the plan last year at christmas but i found out i was pregnant during my break and i had a BAD case of the "baby brain" and i didn't get much accomplished.
i just want to thank everyone for a FAB-U-LOUS christmas season. i was worried with the economy on the brink of disaster but everything went better than i hoped for and i just want to let everyone know how truly thankful i am for each one of you. even though i ended up in the hospital a couple of days before christmas, we still managed to get everyone's orders to them in plenty of time for them to give them as christmas presents thanks to my two little elfs, Tiffany and Kim. you guys are wonderful!
one new thing we are doing for 2009 is a email newsletter. we sent out our first one on new year's day. the newsletter contains deals only available to those who receive the email so if you aren't on the list, make sure to email me and i will add ya! plus it is a good way to stay informed on what's going on and when. we will also be having some contests and give-a-ways so you definitely want to be on the email list to get this newsletter! :) i have been in a giving mood here lately so you never know what we are going to do!
well i just have to get in the bed. karlie jane is FINALLY asleep so i better get some rest too. i hope she does as good as she did last nite...she slept thru the nite til 7 a.m. giving mommy some much needed rest! if she does start sleeping thru the nite, i am going to miss getting up with her at 2 am every morning. SERIOUSLY! i know it sounds crazy but i love getting up and feeding her and changing her diaper because she is the happiest at 2 am than any other time during the day and only i get to see how happy she is. yes, i know, it's kinda selfish but i keep telling karl if he wants to see her at her best he needs to get up with her at 2 am like i do. i think he probably would rather sleep! ;) i am glad we are on a schedule now. i was really worried about working 6 days a week and having a baby to take care of and having to drive an hour to work each day but we have finally got a schedule going on and it feels great to have a "normal" routine.

We are doing our annual open house this saturday from 12-2 pm here at the studio. Drum roll please..................we are doing the gift certificates again this year where we double the amount. YAY!!! these make wonderful gifts for friends and family. just a few simple guidelines on the cards........must be used on new sessions booked between 1-1-09 and 3-31-09. limit of $50 (we write the card for $100) on each card. also these must be used as gifts....and no you can't get give yourself a gift. (i know that question is coming) :)
we will also be drawing for a photo necklace (valued at $125) and food and drinks. come by and see us!!!
