no baby yet!

happy labor day to everyone...i wish this were an actual "labor day" for me. i am still waiting and wishing for little Karlie Jane to get here. I have been on bed rest for the last month and it is driving me nuts. I have actually started to walk around and go places again as of last week since i was only on bed rest to prevent pre-term labor and now that i am 39 weeks i am ready to get this party started!

i will post pictures once she arrives. hopefully that will be soon. so since i have been on bed rest i have had a lot of time to think about what i will be doing when i return to work. i am working up a Christmas Limited Edition you will definitely want a part of. i am not going to go into the details quite yet because i am still working out the details but you are going to love the set up and christmas cards this year! i am ready to get back to work already and start on it! the christmas season is always so exciting (and busy!). I have also set my christmas deadline in order to get your order back before Christmas...December 2 is the date. And from Dec. 2 thru the 12th you may still order but there will be a rush fee of 25% in order for me to get it back before Christmas. So make sure and order all your stuff before Dec. 2nd and you should be in great shape! :) I had to set a deadline this year because last year i had people trying to order on Dec. 23rd to get it back before Christmas and just to let you know that is impossible.

with that being said i am hiring a seasonal employee. i will be looking for someone who can work mid-October thru about December 20th or so and it will be a Tuesday thru Friday 9-5 job. if you are interested please email me. don't call the studio...it won't do ya any good considering i am at home until the baby gets here but if you think you might be interested in the job email me and let me know.

i hope everyone is doing well and i hope to be having this baby soon. i obviously look like i am "going to pop" because i can't go anywhere without someone saying that. i wish i would "pop"!

:)

it's been awhile....

hey guys! i know i haven't posted a blog in a while....there is a reason for that....it has been C.R.A.Z.Y!!!! seniors, seniors, and more seniors. not to mention families, newborn babies, and a wedding, yes a wedding. the last one i am doing for a long time. i think i have blogged about this before but i am not booking anymore weddings because i just don't have the time for them. i like doing them (ok that's a lie...i like the creativeness about weddings, i hate the stress they bring) :) one of these days i may decide to start back with weddings but at least not for the next couple of years. i am posting some images i got this past saturday at Bekah and Blake's wedding. even though i am 8 months pregnant and i had to stand for 7 hours straight, it really wasn't that bad. my legs are crazy sore today but i am going to get one of those fabulous pre-natal massages at Styles on Broadway tomorrow and they always fix me up. :)

Wedding-blog3 Wedding-blog2 Wedding-blog1

which brings me to the next order of business.....maternity leave. i have worked until i just can't work anymore. i have a few more sessions scheduled for this week but after saturday i have to take a break....doctor's orders.  tiffany will be returning messages, calling those who have placed orders to pick them up, etc etc. we are already scheduling people for october and actually filling october up fairly quick. i have started on christmas cards for several of you and when i get back from a short little maternity leave i will be "hitting the ground running" doing christmasy stuff. can you believe it?!? CHRISTMAS! it will be here before you know it. I am going to have to set a christmas card deadline this year for sure. it will probably be the last day in November. Last year i did christmas cards for 125+ people and some were too close to christmas and i had to stay up all night some nights just to get everything done. as you know, i will need to be able to get all the sleep i can with a newborn in the house this year so i will have some kind of deadline this year. more about that later though.

so that's about it. i will be posting photos once my little Karlie Jane King arrives so be watching. and in the mean time start praying for me....i am getting really worried about this whole labor thing. i have heard so many horror stories. i have started waking up at 2:30 in the morning and thinking about everything that could go wrong, etc etc. i am sure those mommies with children understand where i am coming from.

refreshed!

IMG_3942 well, i am back from the beach and feeling great. i had a week of doing nothing but resting on the sandy beach and ok i will admit....i thought about new ideas for sessions and such. i just can't completely forget about work you know! ;)

the seniors are in for a big treat cause i am busting at the seems of new ideas that i can't wait to try out. the senior season officially starts TOMORROW...i can't believe it. i have my first class of 2009 senior in the morning and we have alot of good ideas already brewing. if you have been putting off booking your senior session now is the time. we have a lot of our spots filled in June with just a few more to go. we are offering a $50 studio credit on your order when you schedule a senior session in june so hop to it! June is going to be the best month for outdoor sessions. Yeah we can still do them in July and part of August but c'mon do you really want a 8 month pregnant lady sweating all over the place...not a pretty picture.

Everyone keeps asking "how long are you going to work before you take maternity leave?" my answer is this.....as long as i CAN work. i don't know exactly to date when that will happen. I hope to work up until the end of August and i think that is a very good possibility right now. i am still feeling great and as long as the baby is healthy i will keep on trucking. :) but please don't put off doing your sessions. the sooner the better as far as i am concerned.

we have some new products in the works as well that will be in the studio for display in the next couple of weeks. the coffee table albums are to die for! they are simply spectacular!

tiffany and i are really really pumped up about the new desktop calendars we are producing as well. it's never too early to be thinking about those great holiday gifts! i am sure if you come to the studio any time soon tiffany will definitely be showing you guys the calendars. :)

well that's all for now. i am off to a location session at a farm. i am super duper excited about this session in particular because it is for a 10 year old girl. i have had alot of babies in the studio lately so this will be a good change in pace. hope everyone has a fabulous week!!

how much fun were these guys!

i am ever so quickly posting some images freshly taken about an hour or so ago. we had the greatest engagement session for mark and autumn. they drove in all the way from nashville and memphis just to get some creative photos taken and i didn't disappoint. :) i had a blast with these guys. i laughed the whole way thru the session. it was so much fun.

i also did mommy and me photos at the studio today. we got soooo many cute images that i will have to post next week. hope everyone has a good weekend!

boys, boys, and more boys!

we have suddenly been on an all boy streak for the past week or so. i know i have already posted a blog today but i just had to share these three images of the boys we have had this week. they are all so precious and full of energy! i am surprised we got them slowed down enough to take these pictures. parents are always telling me that their kids were awful during the session yadda yadda yadda. but what they don't realize is that i would rather them be full of energy than lifeless. i enjoy them running around the studio cause then their real personalities come out and as you know that's what i like capturing.

Blog1_2  Blog2 Blog3

i don't know if you have caught on but notice how all three of these images are more serious looks. it's not because i don't have plenty of shots where they are smiling it is just that the best images are the ones where they look more natural. because of that you will NEVER hear me say "Say Cheese!" i don't believe in the 'cheese theory' as i like to refer to it because everytime a kid says "Cheese" they have the most un-natural look on their face. remember this as you are doing snapshots of them at home. i promise you won't be disappointed.

attention CLASS OF 2009

just a quick note to let you guys know that we are offering a $50 studio credit when you book your senior session during the month of June. Space is limited and yes....we already have lots of seniors who have already booked their time spots so HURRY!! Plus, June is the perfect month for outdoor sessions so anyone wanting an outside photo shoot should go ahead and book it now.

If you have any questions regarding our senior photography, please email us or call us at the studio 731.584.9956

wicked cool graduation invitations

Invit_4

ok so if you know me you know i don't use the word "wicked cool" very often but really that's the only words that come to mind when i start talking about these customized graduation invitations. this is a new product for 2008. i don't know why i didn't think about this before since i was already doing customized christmas cards but hey...one thing at a time i guess. ;)

so i have done the math on these babies and guess what? They are....wait for it..................CHEAPER than buying invitations from the school and just sticking wallets in them. and not just a little bit cheaper but A LOT cheaper. :0  amazing i know. i was shocked too. senior year is an expensive year so every little bit (or 'a lot' in this case) helps.

i will have to brag on my husband for just for a minute. i don't get to do that much. ;) but anyways he was at the studio and saw these graduation invitations and he was like "Who does these cards for you? They are the greatest thing i have ever seen." "You mean you do these yourself?" I went on to convince him that yes, i kerri king had indeed designed them. he went on to daydream about if he had these type of grad. invitations when he graduated what they would look like. "they would have a camo background with all photos of me in my hunting gear...."  he then asked if i had any extras that he could have. i gave him a hand full and he has shown them to everyone. this morning he left for work with them in his lunchbox to show the guys at work. i even heard him telling his friends on the phone about them in the middle of a hunting/golf conversation. needless to say i was blown away by his response to these cards. if you know karl then you know nothing and i mean NOTHING excites him. i show him examples at the studio all the time and he glances at it and says 'that's cool' and goes on about his day. just from his response to these cards i am so excited about having them available for our seniors.

paris is definitely all about fashion!

Paris

Little Miss Paris came to see me over the weekend and brought all her cute clothes with her. She even had one of those "bling" pacifiers to complete her fashionable look. We had so much fun!

we have definitely been busy here at the studio. i thought the winter blues were going to last forever but everyone has been buzzing around and the calendar definitely shows it. we have started booking the class of 2009....yep it's that time again! i can't believe it. i am trying to encourage most seniors to book in June or early July.

everyone has been telling me to blog and update everyone about my pregnancy. i don't really have any new news to report other than we are doing great. I went to the doctor yesterday for my 20 week ultrasound and everything looks great. her development is right on target for my due date and she has started kicking away which tends to keep me up at night alot. i have started having trouble moving props around and setting up stuff here at the studio but have no fear.....my summer intern is here! well...she will be in a couple of weeks. i am so excited to have Kassi come help me out for the summer. she is a fellow photographer from UTM and is enrolled in the same major as i was in college. she helped us out during the lamb sessions and i figured if she could do that, she could do anything! i told her it was kerri king photography boot camp. :)

i am so excited to have a shawdow for the summer months. she will be following me everywhere and i couldn't be happier!

my two little monkeys

I just had to post some cute easter photos of my two little nephews with the lamb and goose. they are just now getting to where they cooperate during photo sessions and i am so proud! :) they were the first ones to get their picture made with the animals and they did a good job of testing them out. they are so cute and i can't believe how big they are getting! ben will be four at the end of this month which is unreal. he was asking me a couple of days ago if i remembered when he was a baby. i still think of him as a baby! i really dread seeing how fast my baby will grow because these two little boys sure did get to be big boys quick.

time just flies by. depressing, i know!

hope everyone had a great weekend and remember prom is this saturday and we will be set up in the studio from 3-7ish for prom fashion photos. see ya then!

Pink is my favorite color!

First of all to all of you guys who still don't know I am having a girl! YAY! We are so excited. I have already starting shopping for all things girly. It is so much fun!

We have had an eventful couple of weeks. Mostly easter photos but also family, newborn, baby and maternity sessions have been in the works here. I posted some images from the last few weeks. It's mostly easter lamb photos with a few other things mixed in.

We have already starting booking seniors for the upcoming Senior 2009 class. I will be offering booking incentives soon to the seniors because we are trying to get everyone fit into the schedule before "Labor Day". And when i say labor day i mean the actual holiday AND me giving birth to my baby girl. I am going to try to work until the end of august but who knows I may have to be off a few weeks before that.

Also, i am changing the hours at the studio only temporarily to see if it will work...The new hours will be Wednesday thru Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-3. I am changing it around for a couple of different reasons...first off i was trying to take off every other saturday but since that is everyone's else's day off it didn't make sense for me to be closed. it was near impossible for me to take off on saturday. and the second reason is that i require a little more downtime since i have been expecting. i will see how this schedule works and if not i can try something else.

i hope everyone enjoyed their easter holiday. i don't know about you but i am so ready for some warmer weather! i am ready to get outside an shoot some sessions!

**revision from last blog**

ok so we are still on for the lambs but we are changing the date to March 21 and 22 instead of March 15th. we are however going to have baby bunnies on March 15th. so if you did the lamb photo session last year and you want to do something a little different this year then the bunnies will be perfect for you.

we are still scheduling for both the lamb and bunny sessions so if you are interested call us at the studio 731.584.9556.

we are also going to do the Prom Fashion Photos like we did last year. Prom is on April 5th and I will be set up at the studio from about 3:30 to 7 pm on the 5th. Check the limited section of the website for more info. we will be posting some examples on the blog soon so you can see just what the Prom Fashion Photos are all about.

Hope everyone has a great week. i am feeling really good this week. the morning sickness is almost completely gone and i am getting my energy back little by little. just gaining baby weight and ok it's not all baby weight. i am craving everything! food tastes so good while your pregnant, especially buffalo wings! i can't wait til it warms up a little so i can go walk and swim! and while we are on the subject of, well....me, i was going to let everyone know that we just put our house on the market so hopefully we will be moving closer to camden before the baby is born. everyone keep their fingers crossed and say a little prayer that we sell our house. the housing market is awful right now but maybe we will be able to sell and move so i will be closer to work.

Well that's all for now. If you have any questions about anything going on this spring, email me or call. i have a lot of exciting things on the calendar for the spring already so i am excited for it to warm up. Have a wonderful week!!!

p.s. i am so glad the writer's strike is over. now i am ready to see some new episodes of grey's and private practice! how bout you?!?

kerri has a little lamb...again!

it's that time a year again! easter is just around the corner and we will have a baby lamb again this year!

many of you have already booked a session. but for those who haven't....you need to call and make an appointment! last year we completely booked up this limited edition within 2 days and it will be even faster this year 'cause so many people have pre-booked.

this limited edition is on March 15th here at the studio and the session fee is $20. we will have packages set up between $30-$100 and plenty of add-ons.

***if anyone out there has a old rusted radio flyer (or any other kind) wagon I am looking for one for this session. if you donate it then your session fee is complimentary.

here is an image from last year's lamb. isn't that sweet! i really enjoyed having the lamb in the studio although i don't think the feeling was mutual but Gabriel was a good sport about it.
